ULM Tailgating in Monroe: GMC and Buick Vehicles for Game Day

Where to tailgate at ULM’s stadium

• Reserved tailgate and RV spots: ULM sells reserved spaces in Pecan Grove and the Warhawk Lot through the ULM Ticket Office at (318) 342-4295.
• Warhawk Walk: the team walks Warhawk Way, between the VCOM Lot and Pecan Grove, about two and a half hours before kickoff. Set up nearby if you want to see it.
• Grill rules: ULM requires all fires and hot coals to stay inside a grill or a container built for that purpose, never left unattended. Put charcoal out with water before you leave, and leave fire pits at home: open fire pits are prohibited. Check for any burn ban before game day.
• Inside the stadium: gates open 90 minutes before kickoff, and outside food, drinks and alcohol stay in the lot.

ULM’s parking page lists lot opening times (8 a.m. for a 2 p.m. kickoff, 9 a.m. for 4 p.m., 10 a.m. for 6 p.m.) and says there’s no re-entry on game day. It doesn’t cover tents or generators, so call (318) 342-4295 if your setup depends on them.

GMC Sierra 1500: a tailgate that does more

The available MultiPro Tailgate has six functions. With both the main gate and the inner gate down, it becomes a wide step into the bed, which helps when you’re reaching a cooler pushed up against the cab. Raise the inner gate and you have a work surface at a comfortable height for setting out food, plus load-stop positions that keep longer items like a folded table from sliding out. On the 2026 Sierra 1500, bed volume runs from 62.9 cu ft (short bed) to 71.7 (standard) and 89.1 (long bed, Regular Cab).

The redesigned 2027 Sierra 1500 is due at dealers before the end of 2026. GMC says it makes the MultiPro Tailgate standard on Elevation, AT4, Denali, AT4X and Denali Ultimate, and adds four tie-downs built into the tailgate, for 16 in total, useful for strapping a tent and chairs in place. GMC Yukon and Yukon XL: everyone and everything in one trip

The 2027 Yukon holds 25.5 cu ft behind the third row and 72.5 behind the second. The Yukon XL stretches that to 41.5 and 93.6, enough for coolers, chairs and a tent with every seat still in use. The available AutoSense hands-free power liftgate opens when your hands are full of folding chairs, and the third row power-folds when you need more floor.

GMC Canyon: mid-size, with power in the bed

The Canyon Crew Cab’s bed is 5.1 ft long. An available household-style 120-volt outlet in the bed powers a speaker or small appliance, and the MultiStow Tailgate, standard on AT4 and AT4X and available on Elevation, adds storage with a drain built into the tailgate.

Thursday night, Nov. 12: the Acadia and Enclave

An 8 p.m. Thursday kickoff means many fans may come straight from work. A three-row SUV you drive every day makes that easier. The GMC Acadia has 23 cu ft behind the third row and 97.5 cu ft behind the first, with an AutoSense power liftgate. Buick includes an AutoSense power liftgate on every Enclave, with up to 97.5 cu ft of cargo space. Pack chairs and a cooler the night before and you can leave work and be set up before kickoff.

Packing tips for game day

• Arrive when the lot opens. There’s no re-entry on game day, so bring everything in one trip.
• Use the tie-downs. Chairs and a folded canopy can shift on the drive. Ratchet straps or a cargo net keep them put.
• Time it to the Warhawk Walk. It starts about two and a half hours before kickoff, so be set up before then if you want to watch.
• Bring a bucket of water. ULM asks that charcoal be put out with water, so pack it rather than hunting for a spigot after the game.
