What the CarBravo Warranty Actually Covers (and What Changed in 2026)

The question we hear most from people looking at a certified Enclave or Yukon Denali in Monroe is not “how much does it cost.” It is “what happens if something breaks.” It is a fair question, especially from a couple who has owned new vehicles for thirty years and is buying used for the first time.

This post walks through what the CarBravo warranty covers, when it starts, what the exchange window really means, and the two things it plainly does not include. The program changed in June 2026, so if you have read about GM certified coverage before, read this one again.

What does the CarBravo bumper-to-bumper warranty cover?

A CarBravo certified vehicle comes with a 12-month/12,000-mile Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty with no deductible. Parts, labor and towing to the nearest dealership are covered at no extra charge.

“Bumper-to-bumper” is the phrase that matters. A powertrain warranty covers the engine, transmission and the parts that turn the wheels. A bumper-to-bumper warranty covers those plus the things that actually fail on a modern SUV: the infotainment screen, the backup camera, the power liftgate motor, the heated seat element, the air conditioning compressor, the sensors behind the driver-assist features. On a Yukon Denali or an Enclave Avenir, that content is a large share of what you are paying for, and it is what a powertrain-only warranty leaves exposed.

The “no deductible” piece is worth pausing on too. Some certified and service-contract programs charge a per-visit deductible, so every trip to the service drive costs you something even when the repair is covered. CarBravo does not. If a covered component fails inside the 12 months and 12,000 miles, the repair is handled and you pay nothing.

When does CarBravo coverage actually start?

It begins when any remaining original factory warranty expires, not on the day you buy the vehicle. If the vehicle still has factory coverage, that runs first and CarBravo picks up afterward.

This is the detail people miss, and it works in your favor. Say you buy a certified Acadia that is a little over a year old with 18,000 miles. GM’s original bumper-to-bumper coverage is still in effect, so you are covered by the factory warranty exactly as the first owner was. When that expires, CarBravo’s 12 months and 12,000 miles start. The two do not overlap and they do not cancel each other out. They run back to back.

The practical effect is that a newer certified vehicle carries more total coverage than an older one. Ask us to pull the in-service date on any vehicle on our lot and tell you exactly how much factory warranty is left.

What does the BravoBudget warranty cover?

BravoBudget vehicles carry a 30-day/1,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty. That is the only coverage on the tier, and it is short by design.

BravoBudget exists for vehicles that are 10 to 15 model years old and/or have 100,000 to 150,000 miles, which the older certified program would not touch at all. These vehicles get a 62-point inspection rather than the 126-point one, a CARFAX report, completed recalls, and a powertrain warranty long enough to get you through the first month, when a hidden engine or transmission problem would show itself.

Be clear-eyed about what that is: an inspected, older, higher-mileage vehicle with a short powertrain warranty. It is a good option for a second vehicle, a first vehicle for a ULM student, or a farm truck. If what you want is the 12-month bumper-to-bumper coverage, you need a vehicle young enough and low-mileage enough for the standard tier.

How does the 10-day/500-mile exchange work?

Within 10 days or 500 miles of purchase, whichever comes first, you can exchange a CarBravo certified vehicle for another vehicle. It is an exchange, not a cash refund, and limitations apply.

Ten days is enough time to live with a vehicle: make the hospital commute a few times, load the grandchildren in the third row, back it into your garage in West Monroe and see whether the door clears. If it is the wrong vehicle, you bring it back and pick a different one. Five hundred miles is the constraint to watch. A weekend on the Gulf Coast can use most of it, so do the local testing first.

The distinction from a money-back guarantee is real. An exchange keeps you in a vehicle from our lot; a refund gives you your money back to shop anywhere. If that difference matters to you, our post comparing a certified purchase in Monroe against the online used-car retailers lays out how each one handles it.

What do roadside assistance and courtesy transportation include?

CarBravo includes 24-hour Roadside Assistance for the length of the warranty, towing to the nearest dealership at no extra charge for covered repairs, and courtesy transportation while your vehicle is in for warranty work.

Highway miles between towns are long here. If a covered component leaves you on the shoulder of US-165 south of Sterlington at 9 p.m., roadside assistance gets the vehicle to the nearest GM dealership and you are not paying the tow bill. For BravoBudget vehicles, roadside assistance runs for the 30-day warranty term.

Courtesy transportation matters just as much when a part has to be ordered. You are not stranded for two days, and you are not renting a vehicle on your own dime. At our Monroe store that means a shuttle if you are local, or a loaner or rental when one is available. The exact arrangement depends on the repair, so confirm it with your service advisor at drop-off.

What is not included in CarBravo?

Two things, and we would rather you hear them from us. CarBravo does not include scheduled maintenance, and it does not include a separate long powertrain warranty.

On maintenance: oil changes, tire rotations, filters and the rest of the service schedule are yours to pay for from the day you buy. GM offers an optional BravoCare prepaid maintenance plan that can be added at purchase, and our service department can quote it for the vehicle you choose. It is a convenience, not a requirement.

On the powertrain: the 12-month/12,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty is the coverage. There is no additional multi-year powertrain warranty behind it. If you are used to certified programs that advertised a long powertrain term, this is the change to notice. If a long powertrain term is what helps you sleep, ask us about an optional service contract for that vehicle and weigh the cost against the risk honestly. Our post on which warranty comes with a used vehicle at our store shows where a service contract fits in the stack.

Where can I get warranty repairs done?

At any of more than 4,000 GM dealerships nationwide. You are not tied to the store that sold you the vehicle.

That is the quiet advantage of a manufacturer-backed program over a dealer-only warranty. If your certified Yukon has a problem in Little Rock on the way to see family, or in Gulf Shores in July, the nearest GM dealer handles the claim.

Most of our certified customers from West Monroe, Calhoun and Farmerville do come back to us on N 18th Street, because it is close and they know the people in the service drive. That is a choice, not a rule. The full picture of how certification works at our store is on our certified pre-owned GMC and Buick overview.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a deductible on CarBravo warranty repairs?

No. The 12-month/12,000-mile Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty on a CarBravo certified vehicle has no deductible. Covered repairs include parts, labor and towing to the nearest dealership at no extra charge.

Does the CarBravo warranty start on the day I buy the vehicle?

Only if the vehicle has no original factory warranty left. Otherwise the factory warranty runs first and the CarBravo 12-month/12,000-mile coverage begins when it expires. Ask us to check the in-service date on any specific vehicle so you know how much factory coverage remains.

Can I get my money back instead of exchanging the vehicle?

The CarBravo program provides a 10-day/500-mile vehicle exchange, which lets you trade the vehicle for another one within that window. It is not a cash refund, and limitations apply. If a refund window is important to you, ask us about it before you buy so there are no surprises.

Does CarBravo cover oil changes and scheduled maintenance?

No. Scheduled maintenance is not part of CarBravo certification. GM offers an optional BravoCare prepaid maintenance plan that can be purchased separately, and our service department in Monroe can quote it for the vehicle you are considering.

My take on the CarBravo warranty

I have sat across the desk from a lot of couples buying their first used vehicle after decades of new ones, and what they are really asking is whether they are giving up peace of mind. With a certified vehicle, I do not think they are. Twelve months of bumper-to-bumper coverage with no deductible, stacked behind whatever factory warranty is left, covers the things that actually go wrong on a well-equipped SUV, and the 4,000-dealer network means the coverage goes wherever the grandchildren live.

Read the exclusions as carefully as the coverage. No maintenance, no long powertrain term. Know that going in, decide whether a service contract is worth it for you, and then enjoy the vehicle. Come see us at Jim Taylor Buick GMC in Monroe and we will show you the warranty document for any certified vehicle on the lot before you decide.

Warranty terms are GM CarBravo program terms and are subject to the program’s limitations and the warranty document for each vehicle. Certified inventory changes weekly.
